It’s the New Year and your thinking “im gonna make 2016 the best year ever! So I’m gonna get fit and I’m gonna get healthy”. This Is Great News, but where are you going to start? Will you start with a detox, or join a gym… well below is a few easy steps which you can take to start 2016 with a BANG!!!
Start forming good habits
The foundation of a healthy lifestyle is good habits. You need to be able to commit and stick to your new healthy behaviours, even if you don’t feel like it. So start smaller and grow a good habit. Lets take exercise for example, you don’t need to rushing out and joining a gym and say “I’m gonna go every day”. If you do you will most likely go for 1 or 2 weeks then give it up. Instead, start with a personal trainer and put aside 2 sessions a week. It might cost you a little more in the beginning, but it will get you off on the right foot. It will teach you to develop the good habit of exercising consistently with weekly appointments. After you have built up this habit branch out and start doing a little more on your own.
Start with Just 1
Cleaning up your diet overnight may change your food intake for the following day, maybe even the week… but most likely you will be back to your old ways in just over a two weeks. Instead, start with one clean meal a day and build from there. If you say to yourself “every lunch I eat will be clean” most likely you will stick to it. Changing one meal will not kill you and certainly will not make you hate your life, unlike changing your entire diet overnight. So start small and build, once you have mastered lunch then move to brekki and then dinner. Soon you will be a clean eating machine and enjoy your new life habits
Lay off the drink
Alcohol will pack on the weight and unfortunately there is no way around it. So try to limit your beverage sessions to once or twice a week. This means no opening up the bottle of red after a hard day of work. Instead, try to save it for the weekend when you can share it with friends, that’s if you want to share it by that stage…
Well there you go, you don’t have to change up your entire life just because it’s the first week of January. Just take the advice above and build on good habits, then you will see the true progress in yourself and your waistline.
